Read the words back to me

“How long since you’ve last seen her?” She asked
Such a long time, I can’t remember if she’s even real anymore
I learned to swim in her ink ocean
She kept pulling me up but I kept jumping in
Swallowing gallons each time I drowned
Lungs so full of ink it took a while to write it down
But like I said, I learned in the end
I took one last dive from all the way up there
To show her she had tought me well
I swam around for a little while
Waiting for her to pull me down before I slowly started walking away
“Have you ever tried to get in touch with her since?”
Whenever I write, her wooden floor squeaks under my weight
And it’s still her voice that reads the words back to me
